APPLICATIONS
C series creep action thermostats can be
used for control or for thermal protection of
heater circuits or other applications such as
motors or transformers in small appliances or
industrial equipment.
C series snap action products are suitable
for higher currents and DC applications, as well
as motor and transformer inductive loads.
INSULATION
The metal cases are electrically live and should
be insulated; Cantherm offers a complete range
of optional insulation such as shrink sleeves
or slide-on plastic caps.
WIRE LEADS
All models are available without leads to be finished
by the customer or with a wide variety of welded
wire leads or nickel foil strips and shrink insulation.
Please contact your Cantherm Sales Representative
for more details about finishing the thermostat
to your requirements.
APPROVALS:

Creep
Action Thermal Protectors |
| |
The
C series creep action bimetal thermal protectors
are sensitive to temperature change. The current
flows through the high quality bimetal making
them current sensitive. They are enclosed by
a metal case and should be insulated with a
mylar sleeve. |

|
|
CBP
The CBP series snap action thermal protectors
are used as over current and over temperature
protection for battery packs. The CBP is designed
for easy placement between battery cells.
|
| Applications
Notebook battery
packs, mobile battery packs, power tool battery
packs, electrical devices and household appliances |
 |
| |
C8AM
The C8AM snap action thermal protector
protects against over temperature and over current
situations. It is designed to handle the high
current loads of large AC & DC motors. The
C8AM trips on a combination of temperature &
current which adds heat to the device. |
| Applications
High power AC &
DC motors, sodium lamps, rectifiers, fluorescent
ballasts, transformers and household appliances |
 |
| |
C6AP
The
C6AP series is a bimetallic current sensitive
protector. The bimetal will snap to cut off
the circuit when a designated temperature is
reached to protect the device in use.
|
| Applications
Automotive motors
(window motors, wiper motors, seat adjusting motors,
lock motors, etc.) HP motor, fluorescent ballast,
transformers, PCB, battery packs and medical equipment |
 |
| |
CRM
The CRM snap action thermal protector
is sensitive to current & temperature and
features an insulated plastic case. This fully
insulated and epoxy sealed unit provides drop-in
functionality and resists moisture and varnish.
|
| Applications
Electric heating
elements, fractional horsepower motors, fluorescent
ballast, transformers, PCB, battery packs, sodium
lamps, metal halide rectifiers |
 |
| |
CRMZ
The CRMZ self-holding device is
based on the CRM series snap action thermal protectors
but features an enclosed heating element to provide
safer product performance. The device will reset
only after power is turned off and the temperature
drops below the reset temperature. |
| Applications
Electric heating
elements, fractional horsepower motors, fluorescent
ballast, transformers, PCB, sodium lamps, metal
halide rectifiers |
 |
| |
C17AM
The
C17AM series thermal protector (snap-action
type) is sensitive to current & temperature.
The C17AM+PTC (self hold device) has a PTC element
that will hold the contacts in the open position
until the power is removed & the thermostat
cools. |
| Applications
Motors,
transformers, ballasts, electronic office devices,
household appliances and automotive motors |
